Contributors

The Colorado Encyclopedia welcomes articles on pre-approved topics from trained scholars and writers as well as the general public. If you wish to contribute to the Encyclopedia, please contact Managing Editor Devin Flores via email (devin.flores@state.co.us) with a suggested topic and/or draft. If your topic is approved, you will work with our editorial team to finish your draft and have it published on our website.

 

Contributor Guidelines

Before submitting an entry, contributors to the Colorado Encyclopedia must download and review the Contributor Guidelines.

Please look to existing entries to get an idea of the tone, style, length, and how to format sources.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT AN ARTICLE WITH FOOTNOTES. Drafts with footnotes will be sent back to authors for reformatting***

Articles will not be published without a completed and signed Publishing Agreement. 

Editing Process

After submission, Encyclopedia articles undergo a multi-step editorial process during which you may be asked to make multiple revisions:

  1. Editor will confirm receipt, edit the article, and if deemed necessary, request revisions.

  2. Upon approval by the Editor, the Managing Editor will review the article and may ask for further revisions.

  3. After it is approved by the Editor-in-Chief, the article will be professionally copyedited.

  4. You will receive notice when the article has been copyedited and published on the Encyclopedia site. Staff reserves the right to make final editorial decisions.

Development Policy

The Colorado Encyclopedia Development Policy lists types of content accepted and not accepted, and includes the development process, development strategy, and sustainability plan.
